Male Swimwear

Men have mostly been limited in their choice of swimwear, which is to say that men’s swimwear does not have much variety. One standard style catered to all the venues – indoor, beach, and in the sports ground.

Today, a man has more options and below is a brief description of the major options:

Swim Trunks:

Swim trunks are the most common in men’s swimwear. The design is the key here, this is what differentiates a generic swim truck from the more carefully crafted ones. Solid colors, animal prints, plaids, polka dots and many other patterns can be chosen. An elastic waistband or a drawstring is generally present on the trunks.   Mens Swimwear

The Speedo:

Skin tight Lycra swimsuits are the archetypal Speedo. It offers the least amount of coverage on the man’s body. For people who are serious swimming lovers, this is the garment to go for.

Racing Briefs:

These are the briefs worn by water-racers and divers. The casual swimmer would prefer trunks, the serious once was would wear racing briefs. These briefs are durable. Swimming water has chlorine and these briefs are chlorine resistant. For swimmers who plan to be marinated in chlorine, do not let chlorine affect you.Mens Swimwear

Board Shorts:

These are for the casual swimmers who participate in water related sports for the purposes of recreation. This article of clothing offers the most coverage compared to a range of swimwears. They are mostly made of polyester.

Cotton was used to design men’s swimwear but polyester has taken over the swimwear market in the recent years. Cotton absorbs water and it becomes heavy and uncomfortable for swimming. The material for male swimwear has changed but the design, the basic design, has not.
